The California Daily Journal on July 13, 2011 named Altshuler Berzon LLP partner Michael Rubin one of California’s top Labor & Employment Lawyers for 2011. In a special supplement to its daily edition, the statewide legal newspaper included a profile of Rubin and a description of several of the cases he and his Altshuler Berzon colleagues successfully litigated on behalf of workers and labor unions in 2010-11.
The profile also addressed the firm’s efforts to obtain a ruling from the National Labor Relations Board that, despite the Supreme Court’s recent decision in AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion, employers cannot force workers to waive the right to pursue class, collective, and joint actions without violating Sections 7 and 8(a)(1) of the NLRA. As Rubin explained in the profile, “We are always looking for ways to increase the protection workers have under state and federal law to encourage employers to comply with their legal obligations.”
